Intended for underground tough breaking conditions, hard rock mining, such as Gold, Copper and other base minerals. RIOMEX flexibility comes from the products full density range allowing for perimeter blasting control.
RIOMEX MU is totally pumpable which facilitates a consistent displacement of the borehole water interface by loading from the bottom providing uniform performance irrespective of water presence in the boreholes. The high energy of RIOMEX MU makes drilling expanded patterns possible.
Based on the client’s requirements, a product density will be agreed upon. Typically a product density will be chosen between 0,9g/cc and 1,20g/cc when measured in a cup at atmospheric pressure. The
minimum blasthole diameter is 35 mm.
RIOMEX MU critical diameter is dependent on its density, for lower densities the critical diameter is 35mm.
Priming requirements - RIOMEX MU is formulated to be booster sensitive and requires a minimum of a RIOPRIME 25g primer.
RIOCORD detonating cord down lines are not recommended for use with this product range.
Water Resistance - Suitable for pumping into blastholes with water.
Sleep time - Up to 4 weeks in static ground water and dependent on hole diameter, density and ground conditions. Check with MAXAM before sleeping RIOMEX MU for lengths in excess of 1 week to ensure optimal performance.
Incorrect application of RIOMEX MU may result in high levels of undesirable post-blast fumes.
Ground Temperature - Suitable for use in ground temperatures between 0ºC-60ºC.
Reactive materials - If RIOMEX MU is to be applied in any known or potentially reactive material a testing program must be undertaken before use of RIOMEX MU, otherwise MAXAM accepts no responsibility for any loss or liability arising from use of RIOMEX MU in reactive material.
RIOMEX MU is transported as a non sensitized matrix suspension, classified as an oxidizer 5.1 and should be stored in tanks and silos in accordance with all local regulations for the storage of oxidizer materials.
