RIOFLEX MX 5000

RIOFLEX is an ammonium nitrate based family of bulk watergel explosives representing the latest development in bulk technology. RIOFLEX MX 5000 is a blend of 50% RIOFLEX Matrix and 50% ANFO. The ANFO content is a typical AN-Fuel Oil blend, and is a higher energy product compared to emulsions based ones due to its low water content. Mechanically sensitized at the site and Crosslinked for use in the most dynamic and aggressive environments. Robust, quick and flexible product, suitable for challenging conditions in all type of applications. RIOFLEX MX 5000 mechanical gassing allows quality control before product delivery, controlling precisely cup density and stemming height.

RIOFLEX MX 5000 has been specifically designed for large scale open pit mining operations.

RIOFLEX MX 5000 can be produced on the bench with a wider range of densities to accommodate to all types of rocks and applications for an improved fragmentation and expanded drilling patterns.

The minimum recommended borehole diameter for augering with RIOFLEX MX 5000 is 140 mm, for smaller diameters contact Maxam representative.

Priming requirements - RIOFLEX MX 5000 is formulated to be booster sensitive and requires a minimum of a RIOBOOSTER 400g primer. Smaller primers may reduce the performance of the explosives and are not recommended with this product. It is recommended to use additional RIOBOOSTERS where there is a risk of column disruption and/or explosive column length exceeds 12m. RIOCORD detonating cord down lines are not recommended for use with this product range.

Water Resistance - Suitable for augering into dewatered boreholes with non-dynamic water.

Sleep time - Up to one week in dewatered boreholes and dependent on hole diameter, density and ground conditions. Check with MAXAM before sleeping RIOFLEX MX 5000 for lengths in excess of 5 days to ensure optimal performance.

Gassing time - No gassing time required between loading and stemming blast holes.

Incorrect application of RIOFLEX MX 5000 may result in high levels of undesirable post-blast fumes. Ground Temperature: Suitable for use in ground temperatures between 0º - 55ºC Reactive materials: If RIOFLEX MX 5000 is to be applied in any known or potentially reactive material a testing program must be undertaken before use of RIOFLEX MX 5000, to ensure the inhibiting action of the product is sufficient for the intended application, otherwise MAXAM accepts no responsibility for any loss or liability arising from use of RIOFLEX MX 5000 in reactive material.

RIOFLEX MX 5000 is a on site sensitized explosive, the RIOFLEX matrix suspension is sensitized by chemically gassing inside the borehole, then RIOFLEX MX 5000 is not transported or stored. RIOFLEX matrix is transported as a non sensitized matrix suspension, classified as an oxidizer 5.1 and should be stored in tanks and silos in accordance with all Local regulations for the storage of oxidizer materials.

Read the Material Safety Data Sheet provided carefully before using RIOFLEX. MAXAM strongly recommends not to use RIOFLEX products with detonators and/or initiation systems supplied by other manufacturers in the same blast and declines all responsibility in these cases. RIOFLEX must be stored at moderate temperatures in a dry and well ventilated place.
