RIOMEX 10000 DS

RIOMEX is an ammonium nitrate based family of bulk emulsion explosives representing the latest development in bulk technology. RIOMEX 10000 DS is 100% RIOMEX Matrix. RIOMEX 10000 DS is a chemically gassed, high energy, bulk emulsion that incorporates unique dual salt technology to provide increased bulk density ranges and superior energy concentrations compared to traditional single salt emulsions. MAXAM’s pumping technology further enhances the loading and performance of RIOMEX 10000 DS, ultimately providing the broadest range of practical density control, exceptional sensitivity, water resistance and reliability even in the most challenging applications and conditions.

RIOMEX 10000 DS has been specifically designed for large scale open pit mining operations, quarries and construction. Intended to increase blast energy, can be produced on the bench with a wider range of densities to accommodate to all types of rocks and applications for an improved fragmentation and expanded drilling patterns.

The minimum recommended borehole diameter for augering with RIOMEX 10000 DS is 50 mm.

Priming requirements - RIOMEX 10000 DS is formulated to be booster sensitive and requires a minimum of a RIOBOOSTER 150g primer depending on borehole diameter, please consult it with MAXAM. It is recommended to use additional RIOBOOSTERS where there is a risk of column disruption and/or explosive column length exceeds 12m. RIOCORD detonating cord down lines are not recommended for use with this product range.

Water Resistance - Suitable for pumping into boreholes with water.

Sleep time - Up to 6 weeks in static ground water and dependent on hole diameter, density and ground conditions. Check with MAXAM before sleeping RIOMEX 10000 DS for lengths in excess of 1 week to ensure optimal performance.

Gassing time - Allow at least 30 minutes between loading and stemming blastholes.

Incorrect application of RIOMEX 10000 DS may result in high levels of undesirable post-blast fumes. Ground Temperature: Suitable for use in ground temperatures between 0º - 55ºC Reactive materials: If RIOMEX 10000 DS is not intended to be applied in any known or potentially reactive ground, MAXAM accepts no responsibility for any loss or liability arising from use of RIOMEX 10000 DS in reactive material.

RIOMEX 10000 DS is a on site sensitized explosive, the RIOMEX matrix suspension is sensitized by chemically gassing inside the borehole, then RIOMEX 10000 DS is not transported or stored. RIOMEX matrix is transported as a non sensitized matrix suspension, classified as an oxidizer 5.1 and should be stored in tanks and silos in accordance with all Local regulations for the storage of oxidizer materials.

Read the Material Safety Data Sheet provided carefully before using RIOMEX. MAXAM strongly recommends not to use RIOMEX products with detonators and/or initiation systems supplied by other manufacturers in the same blast and declines all responsibility in these cases. RIOMEX must be stored at moderate temperatures in a dry and well ventilated place.
