Why you should consider packaging Riogel as first class explosive?

November 2019

MAXAM is searching continuously solutions for its customers trying to reduce their total costs by an excellent service. When we talk about total cost, we should consider a series of items altogether, impossible to isolate one from another (i.e. fragmentation, charging time and energy consumption in the comminution process, environmental issues, migration and contamination)

From this, it follows that bulk or packaged products may be both useful depending on the type of blast and it associated costs.

Once a packaged explosive has been identified as the key element for the blast, we should consider the type of explosive that better fits our needs (i.e. dynamite emulsion or hydrogel)

Emulsions and hydrogels are similar but not the same. Some characteristics differentiate one from another:

- Packaged hydrogel is inherently stable
- Packaged hydrogel fits the rock impedance (VOD varies with the confinement)
- Packaged hydrogel has more thermal stability

On September 17th, MAXAM presented in Perumin, one of the most important trade fair around the world, its new range of hydrogels (RIOGEL TRONER R3 and RIOGEL TRONER R5) to accomplish the customer needs on the underground mining, one of the toughest and competitive market.

In addition, RIOGEL TRONER is a product with the following advantages over the emulsion:

- High energy
- Low water content
- Cap sensitive
- Detonating cord sensitive
- Very well balanced (less NOx and CO)
- High resistance to dynamic pressure
- Well bottom coupling
- Long shelf life

What type of explosive would you use in your operation if you were the ownership?.

For sure, you would study all the items exposed above in order to achieve the best solution for your mine.

RIOGEL TRONE 3 & 5 offer you the possibility to achieve one of the most cost-effective blast due to their key performance ratios such as those exposed previously.
