MAXAM increases its capabilities in Latin America with a new production line for cartridge explosives in Peru

    • From its Cocachacra plant, the company will manufacture and market RIOGEL, its latest generation of high-energy cartridge watergel, with the aim of consolidating its position in the region.

    • MAXAM will show the benefits of this type of products, which include optimal fragmentation, longer life and greater environmental care, among others, during Perumin tradeshow.

MAXAM, a global technology company specializing in energy materials, has announced in during Perumin 2019 the opening of a new production line of cartridge explosives at its Cocachacra plant in Peru, where it already manufactures initiation systems, as well as ANFO, RIOXAM ST.
With this opening, the company increases its capabilities in Latin America thanks to the manufacture of RIOGEL, the latest generation of high-energy cartridge watergel developed by MAXAM, with the aim of consolidating its positioning and serving this innovative product throughout the region.
RIOGEL has important advantages over other products. Thanks to its high energy, it allows optimal rock fragmentation, increasing the productivity of the operation. In addition, it guarantees an adequate blasting result by acting better under dynamic pressure.
With a better balance of oxygen in its composition, RIOGEL reduces the emission of toxic fumes such as nitrogen oxide (NOx) and carbon monoxide (CO), shortening the return times to blasting fronts, thus, optimizing the operations’ performance. On the other hand, its manufacturing process requires 95% less water than an emulsion, making RIOGEL the cartridge explosive with less environmental impact.
José Luis Alonso, General Manager, MAXAM in Peru, “in addition to offering innovative products that allow us to increase the productivity of our customers, at MAXAM we have the technical capabilities to respond to their specific needs. We offer adapted and valuable solutions in Peru, Chile, Ecuador, Bolivia and the rest of South America.” MAXAM is showing the advantages of RIOGEL as well as its innovations and latest developments in blasting services during Perumin tradeshow, at Pavilion E, stands 1175 and 1192.
